Advanced Wellness Screening
Sight-threatening diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and others often have no outward signs or symptoms, which is why eye exams, including a thorough retinal evaluation, are important to protect vision.
Our practice is committed to protecting your eye health with the most advanced technology available, and we are excited to announce that our Advanced Wellness Screening contains two noninvasive all-encompassing screenings: Optomap and iWellness
These screenings let our doctors see beneath the surface of your retina, where signs of disease first appear. Traditional eye exams do not provide this level of detail.
Getting an optomap ultra-widefield image is fast, painless and comfortable. Nothing touches your eye at any time and it is suitable for all ages. To have the exam, you simply look into the device one eye at a time and you will see a comfortable flash of light to let you know the image of your retina has been taken.
The optomap retinal image is a unique technology that captures more than 80% of your retina in one panoramic image while traditional imaging methods typically only show 15% of your retina at one time.
The capture takes less than a second and images are available immediately for review with your eye care practitioner.
Unlike traditional retinal exams, the image can be saved for future comparisons. Early signs of disease can be present in the periphery of your retina and remain undetected for a long time when using traditional methods. Potential life-threatening diseases like cancer, stroke, cardiovascular disease can be detected. The view also helps your eye care practitioner detect early signs of retinal disease more effectively and efficiently than with traditional eye exams.

The iWellness screening is fast, easy, and comfortable for patients of all ages and gives your doctor valuable information about the health of your eyes and your most precious gift – your sight. The iWellness optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of your retina.
This technology is the only way to view the layers of tissue of the retina. Through this scan we can detect changes in the retina that may be associated with various eye diseases, especially Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy
Early signs of these conditions can show on your retina long before you notice any changes to your vision or feel pain. While eye exams generally include a look at the front of the eye to evaluate health and prescription changes, a thorough screening of the retina is critical to verify that your eye is healthy.
