Meet the experienced and friendly staff who make Unger Eye Care the leading provider of vision care products and services in Troy.

Justin Green – Optician

Justin enjoys working with people to help them select the perfect pair of eyewear. It is always a great moment when someone loves their new look and great vision. People feeling good about themselves makes Justin’s day.

Justin has a degree in Fine Arts focusing on charcoal from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. He likes using his artistic abilities in his role as an optician and has a great eye for selecting just the right pair of frames for patients.

He has been an optician now for nearly seven years and joined Unger Eye Care in 2015. Justin meets weekly with frame vendors to keep our frame inventory current and fashionable.

Justin likes to draw with charcoal, write screenplays and hanging out with his two cat children.

Jennifer Barth – Optician

Jennifer has been working as an Optician for nearly fifteen years and has worked in both private practice and retail environments. Her experience is invaluable in complicated eye wear prescriptions as well assisting in the fitting of contacts lenses. She enjoys the reaction of a patient who is seeing clearly for the first time.

Jennifer is very “outdoorsy”, she loves to go camping and hiking. She also enjoys refurbishing furniture.

John Rekowski – Optician

John enjoys the challenge of working with patients in his role as an Optician at Unger Eye Care. – it’s always great to help people select the right pair of frames and lenses for their overall look and visual needs.

He has a bachelor’s degree in English Education from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. He worked in sales prior to joining Unger Eye Care.

John enjoys reading, camping, and spending time with his two cats at home.

Chade’ Everage – Optician

Chade’ brings over three years of optical experience to Unger Eye Care. Her favorite thing about being an optician is she gets to encourage patients as they look for that “perfect pair” of glasses. She enjoys finding and matching frames that fit to a patient’s style and personality, and she wants to educate and offer the best lens products to patients for them to see their best.

When away from work, Chade’ spends most of her time with her daughter. She also enjoys traveling, arts and crafts and listening to a variety of music genres.

Jeff Baxter – Optician

New to the industry, and to being an optician, Jeff brings with him a strong retail and customer service background. He plans on showcasing his skills by helping customers have an open, trusting experience where they leave happy and get what they needed.

Jeff enjoys music, reading and visiting the Missouri Botanical Gardens when he is not at work. His most recent hobby includes refinishing furniture and making it a unique piece to use in his home.

Terri Slaby – Vision Therapist

Terri delights in working with patients and educating them on the benefits of vision therapy. She helped establish the vision therapy program twenty-three years ago. Enjoying the interactions of both patients and co-workers she is always eager to assist whenever needed at the practice.

She has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and has worked as a kindergarten teacher and a Vision Therapist in the past several years.

Terri enjoys gardening, boating, and hiking, as well as cooking and baking. She relishes spending time with her children as well as her two golden doodles.

Kimmy Schoerner – Technician

Kimmy has worked at Unger Eye Care for nearly twelve years and enjoys the relationships she builds with patients. She likes helping patients as well as mastering new technology inside the practice.

After twenty years of service, Kimmy retired from the Army where she specialized in military intelligence.

She loves to read, work on puzzles, tend to her garden, and ride her motorcycle. She is very active in her church and in the American Legion. She treats her co-workers at Unger Eye Care like family and enjoys her three cats at home.

With 40 years of customer service June is excited to join Unger Eye Care, where she can cultivate passion and care for her patients. She is eager to learn and grow in the Optical field and build lasting relationships with patients.

She is a proud military mom to her son who has served 17 years in the Marines, and when it’s possible she loves spending time with her two grandkids. Away from work, when she’s not watching sports you can find her camping with her hubby, friends and dog enjoying a good book by the bonfire.

Caitlin Unger – Scribe

Besides being an invaluable doctor scribe and assistant, Caitlin is a natural problem solver, enjoying projects to make operations in our office more efficient.

She has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. She also has substantial experience in merchandising and retail sales.

Outside the office, she enjoys reading, playing board games, video games, and gardening. She also enjoys spending time with her family.

Kaitlyn Wilhelm – Scribe

Kaitlyn spent 5 years working as CNA prior to joining Unger Eye Care. She is passionate about helping others and builds strong connections with her patients. You can always find Kaitlyn with a smile on her face.

When not at work she enjoys spending time with her husband and walking barefoot everywhere.

Abbi Meseke – Scribe

Abbi is very enthusiastic and energetic. She enjoys working with the Optometrists and co-workers at Unger Eye Care. She learns something new every single day and likes the fact that every day at work is different.

A recent graduate from Triad High School, Abbi has worked as a pharmacy technician. When she is not working, she loves to be outside walking or riding her bike. She also enjoys reading, baking, and trying new things.

Fran Busekrus – Accounting

Fran likes solving problems and helping patients at Unger Eye Care through diligent research to answer their insurance questions. Our practice has benefited from her extensive experience in accounting, having owned an accounting practice for thirty years and having worked in a corporate accounting.

She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

She likes to read and spend time with her daughter, particularly when she rides dressage (horses). She also loves animals and volunteers at Partners for Pets.

Tina Parrott  Vision Therapist

Tina has been invaluable to our vision therapy program for nearly fifteen years. Her prior seventeen years in the medical field and her past years as a competitive athlete and coach has prepared her well as a vision therapist. What motivates her is the relationship she develops with the patient and their family. She has had many young students that were struggling with school, lacked confidence and did not like to read prior to vision therapy. Very often, when that same child finishes the program with Tina their confidence is improved, they are choosing to read for enjoyment, and excelling in school.

She enjoys reading and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoys entertaining. Tina and her husband support the sports program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and are also very active at their church.

Grant Unger – Creative

Grant adds to the creative talent at Unger Eye Care. He has been instrumental in the recent rebranding of Unger Eye Care. You will see his creative talent in the new building sign and monument sign. He is also translating this rebranding in our marketing and communications.

Grant recently got his bachelor of fine arts in Graphic Design and his minors in Mass Communications and Art History from SIUE, summa cum laude.

He enjoys writing music, making art, attending design conferences, going to concerts, listening to vinyl, and playing guitar and bass.

Beth Ross – Insurance & Billing Specialist

Beth worked with Unger Eye Care a few years back as a Front Desk Coordinator. She has returned to Unger Eye Care and will be working in Insurance and Billing. She is eager to learn the “nuts and bolts” of insurance companies, submitting claims, and accounts payable.

While away from work, she enjoys traveling, crafting and spending time with her family and granddaughter.

Sherri Flannery – Office Manager

Sherri enjoys working with staff and patients. She wants all patients to experience the care and passion that Unger Eye Care has to offer.

Joining us as a leader who has spent twenty-two years within pharmacy management, she is excited about the opportunity to be closer to the decision making and being able to help the practice grow.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville.

She enjoys crafting and collecting ideas from Pinterest, as well as spending time with her husband watching their girls grow and play sports.
